Start button starting to go?

Post by Twin Pinzies »

Or is it the starter solenoid? Once in a while when I go to start up my truck, the starter button does nothing when pushed. After repeatedly pushing it over and over, it will "catch" and power the starter motor. I've already tried jiggling the wire connectors under the dash, so it's not a loose connection. Any ideas??

Check for a loose/corroded ground strap at the lower starter stud and bolt.
If that is good I would replace the button

might want to take a look at the power cut off switch also. My 710 will do the same if the cut off switch did not engage fully.

I had the same problem . When I went to start up my 710 I had to push the starter button several times, and even had to "wiggle" my finger while pushing the button. After replacing the starter button all was well.

Haven't really looked that close at one, but couldn't you just open it up and clean the contacts inside. After all it is just a momentary contact switch that gets the same build-up of contaminants layer as any other high voltage electrical contact.
