Looking for a Small chest freezer that runs on propane

I've done some looking on the web but haven't found anything that will meet my needs. I would like something close to the size of the ARB/Engle 36-42 quart units. The dometic fridge runs on 120v, 12v, and propane. I may have to modify the workings of the Dometic and attatch them to a chest cooler. However I would rather buy one manufactured buy a reputable company. Any leads would be great.

Norcold makes some small 2-way (110 AC/LP) and 3-way (110 AC/LP/12 VDC) refrigerators. Vegas Trailer Supply shows some in their 2006 catalog. A 1.7 cu ft 3 way lists for $557.95. A 2.7 cu ft 2 way lists for $829.95 (no door).

Think I looked at those but they are not chest style layouts but front doors and every time you open them most of the cold air escapes. I also want to setup a seperate freezer space as 70% of the whole storage area. The 30% fridge area should have a independent door from the freezer area. Also sliding doors would cause less turbulance and keep the cold air in place better than a standard pivoting door.

I considered the propane option myself, but was strongly encouraged to go with the ARB/Engel products. Since then I purchased an ARB and am very happy with it. There is a product that is sold in Australia that attaches to the top of either the ARB or Engel that increases the capacity and might be a consideration. Having separate fridge and freezer areas with different doors in a chest type of unit doesn't exist to my knowledge.

I was looking at that the other day ...... It's quite a nice idea, but no good for my current setup, as the fridge slides back into a "hole" not much bigger than the original frdge.
BTW.... Engel / ARB fridge sales pretty much murder all other brands in Aus!

Hey Miles,
Frostek makes a good, smallish (like 30 litres) propane freezer, the Frostek 115G or something like that.
Kinda pricy (c. $1K) and not very military looking (glossy white), but it works really well. Maybe you could find a deal on ebay or something.

As for propane, maybe the best bet here is to do what we (part-time) mariners do and store the propane tanks in some kind of external cabinet with bottom vents (case of leakage).
