Cold War Remarketing
Well, it has been over 3 months since my order with Cold War. First, I placed an order and got nothing in reply. Tried calling and e-mailing to no avail. Posted this on the boards and Patrick finally replied saying nhe had tried to e-mail me. I never got his e-mails. Order showed up short a tail light and shock cord clamps. The invoice said tailights were 75.00 each, although website said 75.00 pair. Never got the other tail light or shock cord clamps. Been e-mailing and calling, but never get a response and never can get Patrick. I know some of you have had good experiences, but I have had nothing but trouble. Will order only from SAV from now on!

Vendors
It sucks when your only recourse is calling someone out on an internet forum. I hate to do that and hate to see it happen in such a small community. But, BS is BS and sometimes you got no other options if they won't respond. Vendors may not like hearing it and may consider some customers to be a pain in the ass. But, the choices they make impact their livelihood and the way they respond to issues determines customer satisfaction. I have owned a small business for several years and it is doing well. There were times I wanted to just blow off some picky old ladies, etc but didn't. Those little old ladies now basically keep my business going through word of mouth and the groveling and apologizing I did those few times is lining my pockets now. (a little!) That's not to say that the customer is always right as I know I can be challenging to deal with sometimes. I called Dennis today and bothered him about a truck he didn't sell me for instance. He helped me with information. The guy that is working on my Pinz wants to buy one and I recommended Dennis to him about 15 minutes after Dennis and I got off the phone. What goes around comes around. All the vendors got into this most likely for love. What a fun sounding job. It's when problems come up that a regular 9-5 probably sounds appealing I would guess. Customer loyalty is fickle these days with the internet and the ability to price shop without leaving your desk. It takes a lot to keep customers especially in a small world like this one.

I hear that I have been waiting patiently and even calling for 6 month now on a samlex 24-12 converter I sent back for repairs, I know unit was sent to samlex canada, but after getting thru and having Patrick put me on with Scottie it seems to end, was promised both times to get a call back and an update, well last time was 2 weeks ago still have not heard back yet, not sure I will, still need a reliable converter, but I already own an expensive one that I do not have....Guess I'll have to talk to Jim Mettler about a converter, hey Jim what ya got...lol
Hey Todd use SAV but make sure you only talk to Sara if Sherrie takes or fills the order it will be wrong as has happened to me on numerous occasions.

Astrodyne has a 27.5 amp converter (with a fan) for $135 (SD-350B-12), and a 16.7 amp unit without a fan for $104. See http://datasheet.astrodyne.com/SD350.pdf for the first one and http://datasheet.astrodyne.com/SD200.pdf for the second.
I'm using both; I've had the 16A for general power conversion for 4 years now without a problem, and the 27A for the past year - it runs my FI conversion, computer, fuel pump, injectors, and ignition without a hitch.
They always have had stock, and shipped next day.

Yeah, Cold War's customer service is severely lacking in my experience too. Not to gang up via the internet but man, if you can wield consumer power with this technology than why not?! I have used SAV, Exp. Imports, and Cold War and have had a couple issues with CW and NONE with the other two. I ordered "the famous" rear tail lights (sold SEPERATELY!) and also the "twin spring " rear steps that show up with only one spring! My internet complaint was NOT ANSWERED!
Come on Patrick, Get your customer service up to speed or we will bring our business elsewhere. And also, the LAME warning on your website with the "fraud alert" is tacky and does not make paying (much) more for your trucks any easier!

The twin springs on the rear step is probably a typo. I just pulled mine off and I have found the one spring is all that is needed, in fact if there were two springs it would not be very easy to put up and down.
When I get it cleaned up I will post it for sale, and it will only come with one spring.

I second that
Really, the only thing SAV had over Scott was the website. He has always been cheaper and easier to deal with. With the new website I doubt I would order anything from SAV. Thank you E-I.

Actually Miles, I ordered two of the "twin spring" steps for my tour trucks and one had two springs, but one had only one. Guess what, The one with only one spring will sometimes flip down when off-roading. FRAUD ALERT!!!
Twin Pinzies....Just looked at the website and my rear step is a diffrent design from cold wars, didn't know there were diffrent designs out there. Sorry for the mix-up, mine uses a much larger spring, and since it came with the Pinz I don't know where it came from?

The cold war rear step has gone through many changes over the years. I have one that has 4 springs (two per side). The step is fairly easy to get down and always stays up on the trails. It should be noted that it is the one made to extend out over the widened rims. The first one I had (one long spring per side) was made for the stock tires and would not stay up on the trails with the wider rims.

I am not some guy who is going to rip on a business for a little mistake or being a little late on shipping, but this is ridiculous! I feel bad for posting my problems, but on the other hand, enough is enough! Hell, just a little communication would be nice, but I get nothing!
I, like most of you, have ordered from CWR and SAV. I acually placed an order with both on the same day. The SAV order was here 4 days later, CWR 2 weeks later. SAV may not be inexpensive, but their customer service is top notch and thier selection is excellent in my opinion. Sorry to have to vent, but maybe now Patrick will get his act together as we are a group running aging military vehicles who will need parts from time to time. It would be nice to have additional avenues for parts.
Todd, how is it going? Back on patrol yet or still dispatching? Did you move over by the new Post office?

Soni Honnegger has been a good source for parts for me as well. He is located in New Mexico, WAY off the beaten path. Just going to his place is a vacation by my standards. I have bought two trucks from him and would buy more. He also has a lot of Haflingers which I intend to be the next thing I buy. He has used stuff and a lot of it for a lot of things.
