Well. After all ignition and carburettor adjustments, I am quite satisfied with the engine behaviour. Starts right on and goes smooth and strong. If driven more or less steady at 70 kph (~50 mph) it returns 15 liters per 100 km.
What still wonders me are occasional cut-outs followed by powerfull sputter. The engine dies, but restarts on the first touch of the button. I did noticed that in happens only if I suddenly release the accelerator while it is necessary to reduce speed.
If I press the clutch simultaneosly with the accelerator release, there is never any problem and the engine purrs happily as allways.
Long descents with the engine braking also do not pose any problem.
I am curious if somebody else also notices similar behaviour with his pinz.
Has anyone any idea or experience, what might be the cause - did I miss something.

In your case it might be float level. But I'm sure one of the experts here will have a good idea.
I had some intermittent sputtering/bad running and was chasing imaginary carb problems for quite some time. It ended up being in the ignition. Where, I don't know, because I did the civilian conversion and all my problems are gone - runs better than it ever has.
My guess is that it was wires or coil.
If you haven't done the conversion, you should do it. Expedition Imports has a very nice kit and it will work with Pertronix or points. It'll save you money on tune-up parts too.
Good luck.

Thanks for some advice.
Maybe I shall explain more.
The fact is, that the engine runs really well no matter the load and can go the whole day without sputtering (real pleasure do drive).
The condition which provokes cut-out and sputter is obviously when the throttle is released while under load at reasonable high revs. Stepping on the gas pedal afterwards makes the problem only worse (takes longer to recover).
It apears to me very much like flooding (like if too much choke while cold starting). But ... there is no choke pulled.
If i take some care to release the throttle pedal gradually, there is no problem at all.
Some clue?

I think it could also be a worn distributor shaft base. Easy to check, just pop the cap and grab the rotor and see if it wiggles back and forth (clockwise and counter clockwise) it should only move very slightly.
