Leak at speedo cable

Post by eaweidner »

I am needing advice on the procedure for changing the o-ring(s) where the speedometer assy goes into the case. I think I have all the needed items, but I have heard some nightmare stories. If there is someone who can tell me what to watch out for or any other helpful tips for doing this procedure it would be very appreciated.
Thanks!

I know when we did mine you need to loosen the diff plug a bit to let the pressure out of the diff and then unscrew the cable and punch out the little rod that holds it in place first. after that it was easy.

There is also a rubber cup shaped seal in there. I replaced that too and the o-ring. It still leaks a little bit. I'm not sure that it's not leaking where the metal is crimped to the rubber cable cover.
