Mud Bogging
Has anybody done any mud bogging with their Pinz? How did it do?

I know I will hear about it from the local guys, but yeah I have played in the mud bogs here. Obivously my 712 does much better than my 710. The trucks do alot better than you might think in the mud. The real draw back is the next day when you have to clean out the brakes.
At the last event I participated in, The Sonoran Outback Challenge, I would have driven my 710 to first place if I could have done better in the mud bog event. As it was I managed 2nd place overall. I had lost an air fuel mixture screw out of one of the carbs and it was running a little rough so I could not get up the speed needed to get far enough down the track to place. The 712 that was there had a distance equal to the trucks built for mud bogging, so I would say that is not too bad for a stock truck with a 4 cylinder. BTW the 712 was running the original maloya tires.
Can not emphasize it enough though, if you play in the mud you have to get the brakes cleaned up and have really good axle boots on. Then just have fun.

They do all right in mud as far as I am concerned!

Interesting that mud bogging would come up on the forum today. Over the weekend, I attended the monthly mud bog races at our local off-roading venue with my kids. Without sounding like a snob, I thought I was going to feel a little out of place but that wasn't the case as everyone was just there for some fun grassroots motorsports action / entertainment. It actually reminded my of attending an autocross but it was much more entertaining in my opinion.
My kids were urging me to compete with our Pinz but I was thinking about the brake service and MAJOR clean up job that would be called for the next day or soon there after so I passed....this time at least.

Now imagine that muddy drum filled with the most abrasive sand in the world, well, it's not recent volcanic but I'm sure it came from the magma laden bowels of the earth. That's Florida mud, gritty, muddy, hell on brakes. I trailer mine after getting it dirty and still my brakes wear quickly...
OK, I need to clean mine right now, tomorrow or Friday it will happen.

If you didn't get stuck, you didn't try hard enough.

Thats because the brakes were stuffed with lots of lovely "sound dampening" material!.....and made no noise or sign of anything out of the ordinary.
