Tansfer case jumped out of high range

Post by NO_H2O »

It has been a while since I have had time to visit you fine folks here. My wifes Pinz was been doing well, I got her winch mounted and wired, windows in the top are all new, off road lights all mounted and all is well, I think. I took the Pinz out this morning to help pull a skid-steer out of the mud. When I drove home the hi-low range selector jumped out of high range with a pop. I stuffed it back in hi and off I went. It did it once more before I got home. Both times were as I shifted from 2nd to 3rd (I always start out in 2nd under normal driving conditions). Has anyone had this problem. Were do I start looking.

Thanks
Dave

If it keeps popping out you will need to pull it out for repairs.
The usual parts required are 1 high low shift collar,3 syncro hub poppet springs(they break causing the problem) 1 high range gear, any worn bearings and new gaskets and seals.
Have fun

Ouch. That doesn't sound like fun.
Thanks for the info. I will try to plan for that.

Dave,

It could be as simple as adjusting the cable that goes from the lever to the transfer box. I had this problem and it went away after the adjustment.
