The way it is now, my Pinz gets better gas mileage than my '08 F 250 4 X 4 gasser. Without pulling anything the F 250 needs a tailwind to hit 16 mpg. Put the 18' trailer on it empty and the mileage takes a big hit, put the Pinz on the trailer and I'm lucky to get 11 mpg.
The Pinz, even with 40 fifty pound bags of feed on it and pulling the trailer with another 40 bags on it still hits over 14 mpg and I'm running between 52 to 58 mph. I cannot complain too much.
Yeah, I measure tire life by months and not miles.

Towing a boat?
Saw a trailer hitch attachment for the front of the pinz on one of the parts supplier's websites, don't remember which though. The advertised purpose was to make boat lunching easier and with the fording ability of a pinz, seemed like a decent idea. Never actually had a boat large enough for a trailer myself, but from watching friends launch theirs, didn't seem like that big of a deal to back it in. Just a heads up that they are around if you are interested.
Mike,
Didn't realize you were a fly fisher. I used to work in a fly shop and tie flies for the owner (a veterinarian) who would go all over the world and fish exotic places (mostly saltwater). Would also do special order trout flies if we could not get them elsewhere. If you ever get to the gulf for tarpon let me know, I have some experience with tying tarpon flies and good hooks to use. Their mouths are really tough and bony so setting a hook is half the battle.

The typical trailering socket for the Pinz is a called "12N" trailer socket. It is the common European connector and and a 12N to 4 flat connector is the standard pigtail connector sold by LRNA for connecting "lite" trailers to Range Rover. Changing the 2 ( dual filiment ) bulbs on the trailer, and you're done, as long as you don't have electric trailer brakes. This applies to Swiss Pinzes, Austrian ones are wired differently.
I have changed all my trailers that are at towed by a 24v vehicles, to 24v bulbs. And for the few times that they may be pulled by a 12v vehicle, the bulbs are dimmer ( but the tow vehicles are so much bigger and well lit, the trailer light being dimmer doesn't really matter).
As for towing itself, I don't recommend towing a trailer that is as/or heavier than the Pinz, especially without properly working and adjusted trailer brakes, or a trailer that is extremely long and not loaded for a proper tongue weight. Though you may feel safe towing a heavy trailer, in an emergency situation, you can never be sure how a Pinz and trailer react. You can be driving safely, that doesn't mean the other clown is.
If you're buying the Pinz as a "cool" tow vehicle, don't. Buy a properly equipped US truck instead.
That's my opinion, and take it,or wipe with it, as you may.

I just brought back a boat from my uncles. 102 Miles with a boat following awful close. A veryyyy long drive really hot not fun. But I was shocked on how well the pinz pulled the trailer. A couple of times I forgot it was back there.

Long story short my uncle had a stroke on Wednesday. He is not quite all there right now was pretty insistent that the boat go back with me today despite telling him I would come back with a truck next week.

We don't talk about that.Didn't one of are more seasoned drivers tip a trailer with a pinz on it while towing it with another pinz?

However, having seen the results of that incident, I must say I am impressed with how well both vehicles (the tower and the towee) made out.
