We call them Russian airconditioning as the air comes Russian in

But I think they are great (until my aircon is fitted). The outer ridge is spot welded in 'I think' and the door is bolted to that frame and spring loaded. As Dave was saying was optional for us hot placed people.

The is quite a steep hill behind our workshop that I terrify passengers on. However had one who said can you go steeper so I guess it was rather steep as the winch got slightly dirty

The red balls are the winch terminal covers, never fear I didn't dig up the strawberry patch

I especially like the side gas tanks set on rub rails, instead of putting more weight on top or back- less pitch and roll that way.

I used some vents from this company, lots of parts for step vans

The ones I used V-648-AL are aluminum 5" x 10" outside and they open both ways
There is a handle on the back I removed (couple of rivets) and trimmed a tab back so they protrude about 2" inside the cab
I can give a push with my toe and it pops open or they can be opened or closed from the outside

Because they protrude inside you have to be careful where and how you cut the hole
The mastercylinder and brakelight switch are real close
I had to bend one of the brake lines a bit to clear and I modified the glove box as well

Nice pics of the vents...wondering if the clearance inside prevented the correct mounting of the vent..by this I mean that the flange which has the securing rivets should be on the inside of the body, and a hole is cut to the size of the vent door, which is the only protruding part of the vent outside the body.

Those do look really nice but they take up a lot of room on the inside! Would probably help with my dust issue as well.

Maybe they could be mounted in the forward part of the door? The flange could be inside then. Still get air into the cab mounted that way.
Still get ripped off with bushes and such.

When I take my doors off for desert travel, flow through air is not an issue.

I mounted from outside mostly cause the hole does not need to be very nice
The vent has a nice wide flange that covers any errors (not me)
Clearance inside is tight but with the master cylinder out it could be done
Thru the door would pose some challenges with the inner panel and I think the mechanisms inside would eat a hole in my leg

Heck, the rivet that holds the door latch bucket wears on my knee after a couple of hours
