Re: Muffler Development - Not far off
You guys will be happy when they are ready. The prototype has a deeper lower tone, way less harmonic/tinny noise. Test truck(712M) user also confirms my pre and post test drive findings: slight power increase since install.

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off
Hi Guys,
I should have them up on the site and shipping within a week or two. Mfg, tells me all parts and pieces are completed for a run of 20 mufflers and they were starting on the final assembly this week.
Inital "introductory" pricing will be $395, and will go up a bit after the first production run. These are built out of 304 stainless 18 gauge. They are solid and really very nice.
I'll post up a link on this thread as soon as we are ready to take orders.
Cheers,
Scott

2nd dibs. 100% in. Will the muffler include the copper gasket?
I noticed that mine is still solid, albeit rusty. It blew out the rear wall of the canister! I wonder if the muffler has been my un-discoverable power robber this whole time...

Hi Guys,
Orders for the mufflers can be placed on the site.
http://www.expedition-imports.com/produ ... ffler.html
Introductory pricing is that, "Introductory," and after the initial batch will be going up $100.
Gasket is sold separately, but you can add it to your cart from the muffler product page.
Cheers,
Scott

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off
I've noticed my muffler is... different, possibly the Austrian/refurb variant? The tailpipe does not exit where this version or any other I have seen does. And it is as it came from the military.
Can anyone help me the background?
Thanks.

I guess mine is also standard Pinz part (#8 = 7121121362), but probably not the ubiquitous Swiss set-up (7121121192/90).berger wrote:I prefer that setup! Re: Muffler Development - Not far off
Correct, the Austrian trucks especially if they went through a later rebuild were outfitted with a different muffler. Considering that a vast majority of the Pinzgauers in North America are of the Swiss Variant that is the direction that we went. Not saying sometime in the future we won't do a rear/exit style, but it is not likely to be anytime soon.
One of the benefits of our new muffler is the fact that the "exit" pipe is replaceable. I can't count the number of trucks where this pipe has been bent. With this version if it does get bent it is a cheap fix. Better yet if someone knows they are going to be rock hopping, then with about 60 seconds the muffler clamp could be loosened and the pipe removed prior to damage.
Cheers,
Scott

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off
Received EI's new SS muffler last week and installed it today -- WOW. Of course I had to fix other things, too - new flex coupling from SAV, changed heat exchanger (someone had drilled holes through the mounting point, so it was leaking through there) and new gaskets. Quieter, smoother, and no more backfiring! Fit like a dream.
Thank you, Scott, for getting these made!
