Re: air compressor solution
Another option is to install an old airconditioner compressor and convert it.

Re: air compressor solution
Over the decades I have used just about every compressor / air tank on the market. I have used a co2 system for the last 12 years. It is large enough to run air tools and air up all 6 tires from 15 to 35 psi.
One big advantage of the co2 is it can be carried to where ever it's needed.

Bulldawg,
What size CO2 tank do you carry?

Re: air compressor solution
I carry a co2 tank in conjunction with the on board air compressor. I guess I like to duplicate my efforts. Actually I guess I have two air compressors but one is for the air horn and the other is for utility air. The co2 fills the tanks nice and fast as long as the temps/humidity are ok, otherwise the regulator likes to ice up.
Re: air compressor solution
I actually have two tanks. 20 lb and 10 lb
The smaller one is great for airing up tires but doesn't last long when using air tools. It is also lighter to carry around to where you need it. I use a 125 lb regulator and a 25 ft heavy duty curled hose.
I just refilled my 20 lb bottle and it cost me $13.

Did you ever take those pics?Profpinz wrote:I'II take a few pics of the compressor and post ASAP.
Even though I'm in Australia and the particular Company that sold the compressors has gone broke I'm sure you'll be able to find a similar item locally, as it was most likely "sourced" from a Chinese compressor manufacturer's generic lineup.

After looking at many options and weighing the 12v/24v question, I decided to go with a 10lb CO2 tank.

Tank arrived today. Appears to be well made, but time and use will be the true test.

Re: air compressor solution
I had the tank filled today. Little pricey at $25 for 10lbs, but if this lasts me the entire season (maybe two now), I will be happy. I didn't want to mess with a 24v/12v solution this time around.

Re: air compressor solution
Well, I got to use the tank this past weekend...and I am very impressed.
I aired up all four of my tires, from 18psi to 40psi, then did the 3 PS tires of Mead's 712, from 20psi to 50psi, before he aired up the DS.

Yeah yeah...but at least I don't have to refill my tank each seasonberger wrote:I aired up all four of my tires, from 18psi to 40psi, then did the 3 PS tires of Mead's 712, from 20psi to 50psi, before he aired up the DS.
