This one seems to be a LHD model - I have only ever seen the RHD like in the video.
Wonder who has it and where it is!?!

The "prototype" truck had been up for sale on eBay a few years back. If memory serves me correctly, the reserve was in excess of $20KUSD. Several eBay listings failed to meet reserve. I believe the truck was last located somewhere in Ohio.

Unique features include the middle wheels with steering capability and the use of the Steyr-Puch 4-cyl boxer engine. There has been debate as to the authenticity of this truck being a factory prototype versus a one-off vehicle assembled by a very talented Steyr-Puch employee with unrestricted access to parts and tools. Regardless of its true origins, the truck was professionally designed and executed.

Jim your comments are interesting as the engine looks much different and there are other small interesting features that are different: Battery box, side mirrors, front and rear bumpers, rear engine door, brake fluid res, shifter handle, no tool box, dual exhaust - those are the ones I see quickly.
Regardless - very cool truck and looks to be in fine condition!

The last word I received from a friend of the 6x6 owner is that the truck has been shipped home to Austria. There were two of these "factory prototypes" built and this is believed to be the lone survivor.
The other 6x6 & 8x8 Haf's seen on YouTube and elsewhere are home grown designs, most of which do not use Haflinger running gear.

The one in the video is a couple hours away from me , I'm quite keen to find out a little more about it , I did hear someone talking about that one and another disc brakes and VW pistons were mentioned ,,

heres a question does the haflinger have the same design diff as the pinz with two crown wheels

The Haffy only has one crown wheel and pinion per diff.
Unlike the Pinzgauer the axle pivot point is outside the casing, so a more "standard" differential design is employed.

On a related note - do you know of any other vehicles which use the dual crownwheels differentials like the Pinzgauer?

I've heard renaults have offset rear axles as well - so perhaps they do?

The 6x6 Haf on youtube was built by Alf, it also has VW barrels and pistons taking it to around 750cc and Fiat disc brakes on the front.

I think Tatra was one of the first to use this idea also used central tube chassis

I've driven this Haflinger. It is faster then most pinzgauers.
