starter solenoid click

Hi all. Drove the pinz yesterday, started and ran fine. Tried today and all i get is one click from starter when i push the button. I cleaned ground cable and all battery post, still just a click. Any advice ? Thanks in advance.

Batteries low? Check voltage at batteries.

Or bad connection somewhere in the main 24v line to the starter? Check voltage at the starter.

Stuck solenoid?

Glad you're squared away.

Read the sticky thread in this section about periodic battery recharging. An imbalance could have inflicted such damage on your batteries.

You're right. I have suggested to Vince that such info get added, together with advice about the importance of proper refilling, but so far I haven't seen it added. It's locked, so I can't add anything. EDIT I'm wrong, Vince already did it. D'oh!

You should stress the importance of checking the water level regularly and only after the battery has been fully charged. It should only be filled with distilled or deionized water. The water level will increase as the battery charges, so filling a dead battery with water will boil the water and acid solution out and decrease the available stored energy.

When a battery is charging it normally will "boil" hydrogen gas, which sometimes takes water with it.

So, if your lead plates are exposed, FIRST add distilled or deionized water only enough to cover the plates, THEN charge the battery, and FINALLY top off the water level. Otherwise, you'll likely overflow the battery and lose electrolyte and storage capacity.
