Re: starter solenoid click
Batteries low? Check voltage at batteries.
Or bad connection somewhere in the main 24v line to the starter? Check voltage at the starter.
Stuck solenoid?
Starter problems?

Re: starter solenoid click
will check voltage and main line thank you. Starter was rebuilt about a year ago. Thank you for your reply.

Glad you're squared away.
Read the sticky thread in this section about periodic battery recharging. An imbalance could have inflicted such damage on your batteries.

Re: starter solenoid click
 The thing missing in that sticky in the need to use distilled water for battery maintenance.

edit: Rats, I guess it's not missing. So much for my comprehension skills without my second cup of coffee.

Edzz,
You're right. I have suggested to Vince that such info get added, together with advice about the importance of proper refilling, but so far I haven't seen it added. It's locked, so I can't add anything. EDIT I'm wrong, Vince already did it. D'oh!
For the record, Etoothpaste supplied this:

For the record, Etoothpaste supplied this:
So, if your lead plates are exposed, FIRST add distilled or deionized water only enough to cover the plates, THEN charge the battery, and FINALLY top off the water level. Otherwise, you'll likely overflow the battery and lose electrolyte and storage capacity.BatteryUniversity.com is a good reference.
You should stress the importance of checking the water level regularly and only after the battery has been fully charged. It should only be filled with distilled or deionized water. The water level will increase as the battery charges, so filling a dead battery with water will boil the water and acid solution out and decrease the available stored energy.
When a battery is charging it normally will "boil" hydrogen gas, which sometimes takes water with it.

Edzz,
No, it might not be you. I think he added it since I last looked. You might have looked before it got added.
