A family member has a low-security gate on their road which is only there to keep through-traffic stick to the main road and not go through the little quiet neighborhood.
The issue is that the gate remotes are very scarce and their housing association makes people pay a lot for a replacement and it's just very, very complicated, to put it mildly.
I was wondering what it would take to hack the system? I know getting a remote to see what model it is and the code would be the easiest thing but if we can't find anyone willing to let us see it (they will assume we are crazy or up to something) what other option is there?
I doubt this is a very complex set-up and it isn't high-security at all. You can easy walk around it, or move a 2ft. rock and drive! Its bound to be somewhat easy to do. The code panel where you can open it manually doesn't have a brand name or anything, other than a generic keypad like an old phone.

From the receiver to the motor, wire in your own receiver and zip tie it up so it doesn't look like it was an add on.

This is the easiest way to go but you would need one for a few mins to program from (or sit there and try to intercept the signal when someone drives up and opens the gate)undysworld wrote:Universal Gate Remote Controller: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc7-Y_6iDGs

Thanks but we cant add anything to their system. The remotes linked have really bad reviews. Some are sold on Amazon but it sounds like most don't work.
I was able to find a brand tag. Its a DKS Doorking, which seems very popular.
