Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Excellent! Glad you got it fixed. Put a voltmeter in somewhere to keep an eye on the charging condition. I got some small LCD voltmeters that only use two wires, black and red. They self power from 3V up to 40V and give the voltage to a tenth of a volt, and are fast enough to show the voltage while ...

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Well... today I drove the Pinz a total of 50 some odd miles. No charging issues and it started every single time. Too bad I didn't have my cameras when I got up into the mountains. OUTSTANDING SUNSET UP THERE! Will probably go again soon as I found the dirt-bikers pit to be vacant, muddy, bumpy, and ...

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

I think I've figured it out. Jimm nailed it about the fusible link wire being bad. When I drop a current across it or when I attempt to measure resistivity I get the same results - OPEN CIRCUIT... not even M-Ohms. Going to do a quick bypass with a #10 wire and see what happens.

Re: Different view of a Pinz

OMG...SLC. You are so close to Moab, even closer than I am. Was planning to take a few days next week and go there
but, other stuff got in the way. Our local pinz club is in the planning stages of an outing there next March...no details yet.

Would be great to meet at Arches or in the town and ...

Re: Different view of a Pinz

I'm in Salt Lake City Utah. Lots of good places to go here... guess I'm spoiled and think it's far away. Where I grew up.... EVERYTHING was wheeling... even the drive way. Now I live in the city and EVERYTHING is easy peasy.

Yes! Can't wait to see how it does in the snow...

Re: Different view of a Pinz

Wow...you guys are right on the edge of adventure. Four wheeling in a parking lot with full lockers and amazingly
enough, you were going fast enough to have leaves stuck to the intake screen. I can't wait till you actually get
to an open road on the way to the Safeway store.

No safeway's ...

Re: Different view of a Pinz

Morris,
What's amazing is that there isn't a puddle or parts under it from an exploded portal, axle or any other part of the drivetrain..... maybe in the next episode..

Nothing like utubing Atrocities against a Pinzgauer.

Jim, clean out a space, you got a 712 coming.

I only locked to go up the ...

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Well I took the batteries down to Autozone and they tested ok on the load meter. One battery was too low to test so they put them on the charger for me. When we picked the batteries up the lady said they had tested good... I'm suspicious of that.

I put them back in and it does crank better but ...

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Did some more checks today. The molex terminals were quite dirty, however conductivity through the connector was quite good (micro-Ohm ranges). I did some more voltage checks to see what up. Anyway while I mull this over a bit.

Would you electric folk agree that this is applicable to how the ...

Re: searching multiple terms

Haven't tried this yet... but on google if you want a whole phrase you enclose the search in quote marks. (e.g. "axle boot")

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Easy enough as I already have the cover off and seats out. I'll make another video 8) I make the videos for my personal use in analyzing problems after the fact... but they turn out fun so I post them on YouTube for everybody. :D

Re: Batteries / Alternator Diagnosis Help Please

Hi Jim. Bring on the electrical stuff! I can take it :D Don't know if you noticed in my post prior to the video... (I had lost my camera man when I tested the "Molex" connector). But here are the results:

Molex Plug - Engine @ Idle
I grounded the Neg lead to the bolt head where the ground strap is ...
