Well another Deputy and I arrested a drunk a couple nights ago that was threatening to kill everybody in sight at a local bar. We were escorting the idiot out in cuffs when he started kicking and landed one on the outside of my right knee. My knee buckled to the inside and I went down. Spent the next few hours in the ER.
Got the MRI today. Pretty much everything that could be torn or damaged is. Go in for surgery tomorrow. Will be off work for quite a while. The worst part is I wont be able to get into, much less drive, the Pinz for who knows how long.
Never fails, had to happen just as Spring is, well, springing.
Dang, I hate to say I know how you feel, I do, I hyperextended my left knee on a snowmobile in 1977, required surgery, similar to what you described I think, I spent 4 months in a cast and spent another 2 months in rehab learning how to walk again, so I hope your better off than I was, I did a little more than tear a few ligaments and miniscus, I actually broke the joint of my knee, so speedy recovery, and like mike said do your research now and what tinkering you can then get back behind the wheel soon.

I feel your pain (literallay).
I'm in a cast for the next 5 or 6 weeks and then lots of PT after breaking my left leg doing something stupid on the slopes. (Stay away from the terrain parks, they're not that much fun after all)
I'm taking this time to do some of the electrical work & mods I've been putting off for a while. Fortunately, I've got a very supportive family, so my father in-law drove my 710K in the Denver St. Patty's Day parade for me while I sat up top and waved at all the drunks.
Don't let it get you down. With any luck you'll be back in business in time for the summer festivities and Treffens!
Good luck, & get well!
Surgery went well. I was tld it was much worse than the thought at first. Making things worse I was druged up and missed my Ebay add on a couple nice new door panels. Oh well. I've only been awake for a few hours in the last few days.
Oh well. Wonder if I can park the Pizn int handicapped places now?!
Yes, as long as you have a Handicap placard. Some people look at mine a little funny, till they see how long it can take me to get in and out, and then notice the tag in the window
Having good days and bad days. Mostly out of it due to "better living with chemistry". Been making a list of things I wanna do. Ordered a set of new inside door covers. Gonna replace most the hoses, and gaskets.
I want to pull the dash cover, locker indicator light cover, and locker lever cover, and paint them. Just not sure if I want to go semi-gloss black, or try to match the OD green. CAn you get the just the clored sleeves that go on the locker levers (yellow or green)?
I couldn't find just the locker lever sleeves. They seem to come only with the entire lever. Did find yellow shrink tubing at NAPA that worked just fine and looks nice. Still looking for the green in a large enough diameter.
Get well,
Paul

Gotta be something easy that will work. I was even thinking of making the front axle activator green, the rear lockers yellow and the front locker red, just for the heck of it.
Feel for you, had same inject & take coumadin for about a year and a half before it cleared up clot behind left knee. You never feel quite comfortable sticking yourself in the stomach.
