I just purchased a rear utility/backup light (Hella 24 volt). It comes "pre-wired" with only one red wire coming out of the sealed housing. What I want to know is how to wire it in. I would like to have it activated by a toggle switch rather than transmission activated so I can switch it on at any time. Could I use the existing wiring/switch that's located on the left side of the dash near the the "hazard blinkers?" You know, that white switch that doesn't do anything?
Thanks in advance...

rear light
I recently installed two spot lights at the front and last weekend installed a 24v light at the rear, as I was getting tired of backing into things in the desert in the dark.
I used the lug at the starter solenoid (it comes direct from the battery) and wired it to a fuse block and located three toggle switches at the left of the console next to the locker panel. All of the switches are tapped to that with the hot wire to the lights. All are independent that way and the rear light can be operated seperately as well.
I ran the hot wire next to the existing bundle under the motor cover housing past the regulator and up through the wall next to the axe and under the front console.
Only thing I am concerned about is leaving them on accicently but when the battery key is off so is the power. I always remove the battery key when I leave the vehicle.
Cheers,
Morris
