First of all, I am by means a mechanic so please excuse me if this question sound stupid. My pinz would not start last night so today I started to trouble shoot. I believe I have figured out that my problem is no gas to the carburator. I disconnected the gas line to the carburators and no gas was delivered when I turned the starter.
I do believe that my problem is the fuel pump. When I disconnected the supply hose behind the fuel filter I felt no sucsion. And when I disconnect the hose leaving the pump no gasoline is disharged.
After the fuel pump is a resevouir that is usually 1/2 full with petro but I am not seeing a fuel filter. I did notice that a section of fuel line was spliced just before the fuel pump, is this where the fuel filter should go????
If so the previous owner has removed but not replaced it.

The filter goes on the suction side(from tank to pump)and then there is an adapter to reduce the hose size to the pump inlet. From your description the pump is not working and should be rebuilt or replaced. Easy to fix.
You may want to check your oil for fuel contamination from a failed pump diaphram(if it smells like gas, change it).
