Where can I get a pair of these?

Post by pinzinator »

This is a pair of windshield support brackets that comes with the Austrian Pinzgauer. They are used when the windshield is down, and keep the glass from breaking. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of these? I've inquired everywhere to no avail.

I got the pictures off of Jim's website.

Here is my take at it.

I used 1 inch flat bar that i formed and add a rubber for the stopper.

Really easy to do and it has work very well all summer. 8)

Denis, what keeps the windshield from bouncing if you are off road? Do you use a strap of some sort? Very nice looking truck by the way.

Andy, if you have a close look on the right side of the truck in one of the bumper's hole you'll see the leather strap that keep the windshield from bouncing and it hold very good, never had a problem with it all summer long, off road or highways. 8)

Denis, I like what you have fabricated. What are the dimensions? Could you post a drawing of some type?

The brackets on Goatwerks sites were ones I gave to Jim a year or so back. I had plans to manufacture ones that would be "friendiler" to mount on Swiss Pinzes, but I sold my 712, and 716s use an entirely different style retainers.

A couple things to keep in mind when folding the windshield down.
1, the windshield frame needs to be locked firmly into place, as with any bouncing around the frame may also bounce, causing the frame to get banged up or bent, crack the windshield , or have the windshield knocked out of the gasket or frame ( as has happen with one Pinz owner)

2 The windshield should be urethaned into the gasket, and the gasket to the frame. This will keep the windshield, frame and gasket intact when layed flat. Do not use silicone , as it is a poor substitute.
