Swiss Auction
How do I get a copy of the next Swiss Auction? I saw someone had posted one here before. Any help would be appreciated.
If you are lucky enough to own a Pinzgauer, then you are lucky enough!

Planning on enlargeing the fleet, are we?jacksonpinz wrote:How do I get a copy of the next Swiss Auction? I saw someone had posted one here before. Any help would be appreciated.
You should do Pinz tours since you already have the permits and everything. I bet I got asked 100 times this summer if I gave tours. I even know a responsible, experienced Pinz driver that might be willing to work for you part time.

Next Swiss auction that we have found out about is only going to be next year on april 23rd, 2008. Otherwise there is no other auction planned until then. In case there will be one scheduled earlier I will of course inform you.

Just have some friends who are interested. Not looking to enlarge the fleet as I already own 45 busses!
I have been asked the same about the tours, everyone wants a ride! I did have mine up in the Gros Ventre this past weekend and pulled out a Bronco that was in fish creek up to the windows. The guy was in awe it pulled it out.
What about the Austrian army auction? Does it work the same as the Swiss. Sounds like the Swiss pool of Pinz's in small and only junk is left. If I am right, and I might not be, the 718 was first produced in 1986. When do you think the first ones will be auctioned? 2010? Any other avenues for someone not afraid to do some leg work for one at a good price? Didn't Australia buy a few? Germany?
Thanks for the help!

You need to look at prior posts, Austrian trucks are mostly very rusty, and there were only 2000 TD's made between start of production and 1993.
However Dave Dunn has the only 100% legally registered TD in the US and it is for sale. See classifieds for "thinning the herd in Sa CAl" post.
Beware that the price is as posted and non negotiable
There will be no "cheap" TD's, and most of them are Municipal trucks run till falling apart and very rusted. See Dave's previous posts on TD info, Between him and Prof Pinz, they know all things TD

Neither Austria nor Switzerland bought any Pinzgauer 716 or 718. If they did, then only a maximum of a handfull for testing purposes or special use. They bought however a lot of Bucher Duro which were build as a 4x4 and 6x6. The principle of this truck is nearly the same as the Pinzgauer although this truck is much heavier and has a regular chassis frame.

=============> some info here
....and here

The first of these trucks are possibly going to be autioned off next year or llatest the year after, however they will probably be very expensive as a lot of people might want one.

Austria and Switzerland did buy some 716/18s. A 718AMB went through the Thunn auction a couple years back. Because of how vehicles can be sold in Europe, it was listed as a '93, but after seeing pics of it, it was an obvious P-80, made prior to 1990, and the VIN confirmed this. It came to the US for"off road" only and under the terms of importation can never be registered for the road ever in the US ( this is from the Feds, not a state).
I have seen several pics of P-80 Ms and Ks in the Austrian army. plus a P80 718AMB is listed in a Austrian auction.
In one of my old computers I have annual production numbers for the 716/18 lines, and before 1987 only a few hundred were made, and to 1993, only 2000 +/- made.
From what I've seen, a majority of the "surviving" TDs are 716Ks. Ms would mostly been for military evaluations and met an unpleasant end.
There have been some TDs sold out of the UK ( government sales), but mostly all RHD.
And as far as Austrailia, if there was one there, Peter would have clubbed the owner and taken it.
