Post by M Wehrman »

I am thru with splitting the batteries to charge during non use. :x 24v chargers seem over-priced  ,other options?

Battery Charger 24 volt

Post by Thomas-E »

I found and purchased one from Harbor Freight

Model # 91325-0VGA

It is a dual 12/24 switchable unit, I'm happy with it and the current price is $49.99.
It is occasionally on sale in their catalog, about $30.00 :D

My batteries would run down in a couple of weeks when sitting after I installed the battery equalizer. This solved the problem. A Soneil 24v 1.5 amp (electronic maintainer) battery charger. I leave it attached to the battery handles in the battery compartment. Cord tucks in between the two batteries.

I use a 20/12 amp battery balancer - which is wried to a 12v to a marine type fuse panel like this:

I added switches to lift the 24v and 12v connections to the balancer so I can turn off the balancer and the entire 12v panel - which brings the quiescent drain on the battery bank down to near zero when the truck is parked.
