Post by OhioPinz »

I'm sure it's been covered, but where can I purchase the black 3/8 rubber rope, clamps and crimper?

The rubber cord and clamps can be purchased from SAV (#SAV2500 and 2550) or McMaster-Carr ( http://www.mcmaster.com/#rubber-cords/=bakmff and http://www.mcmaster.com/#crimp-hose-clamps/=bakp6h ).

The crimper that most use is a tile nipper I think. I have a pair of cutting pliers that are the nipper type (also called end cutters) rather than diagonal and work very well. I think they are ChannelLock brand.

Got my rubber rope from Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USA-3%2f ... 1533wt_941

$29.45 for 150 feet + 10.95 for shipping, that is $ .29 per foot. Compare prices. It is 3/8 inch which is a bit bigger than stock stuff, it fits.
edit: SAV shows it out of stock and it is $ .90 per foot

Got my 'ear' clamps from Fastenal, part no 0427962. $21.79 for 50 of them

I use a end nipper for tightening them.
