How much of your trip required chains?

I used chains on the rear for about 35 miles on the Dempster. The road was packed and new snow over ice. Had no trouble going or slowing without the chains but if I put the binders on she would slew. So I put the chains on for my piece of mind as had more control if I had to STOP!!!. When I got out of the area that had iced and only had to deal with packed snow and 6 to 8 inches of new snow I didn't need them, doble traccion was enough. I have 2 sets of Grip 2532 from Tirechaindealer.com.......

Great pictures!

The picture of the Lynx puzzles me... I thought that Lynxes were shy and stealth creatures. Is the picture the fruit of a long and silent approach or was this Lynx especially cooperative?

the lynx was some yards off the road crouched in the snow. I stopped and we took picture after picture as fast as we could as we thought it would bolt at any second. But it didn't ...when I gave my interpertation of a cat growl it merely turned its head in our direction. When we got to Kluane we met a Ranger and asked him about what we saw as strange behavior on the part of the lynx and he said he wasn'r surprised. He said the lynx probably thought it was camouflaged and just was ignoring us as "not prey" and as long as we didn't approach into its "space" it wouldn't break cover ...so we have a whole strip of photos with the lynx in exactly the same position

Thanks for the explanation. It must be quite unique to be next to such a beautiful animal. It is one thing to see one as a small dot through binoculars, but something totally different up close...!
Makes a trip to Canada at some point in the future quite tempting...

Amazing pictures, thanks for sharing... My Wife has been researching houses in Wasilla, so its not out of the question that we may one day be there... Ironic since I had to get the Pinz from across the country once already.
