Czar,
I'd also like to point out that when I bought a vehicle from George, sight-unseen, and then was disappointed with the physical condition when it arrived, George refunded my money without question. (George hadn't seen it previously either.) He is an extremely reputable guy.
I saw your ambulance when he first got it. It was the first one I saw up close, and it was pretty cool to see how the internals of the box were arranged. As I recall, it was in very nice condition.

FWIW, I couldn't agree more. I think George recently saw his 70th birthday, and I'd be hard pressed to try and keep up. As he may have mentioned to you, he's recovering from a May pile-up at Road America where he spun between turn 3 and the pedestrian bridge and crashed his Riley-Scott and broke some ribs.Recently, I purchased my first Pinz from George Stauffer.....a truly first class gentleman if there is such a thing. After much searching and speaking with a few of the more notable sellers of Pinzgauers in the US and a few private sellers, it became readily apparent to me exactly how rare a guy like George is. Not to discredit anyone else in this fine community, its only that, at an advanced age, it seems like Stauffer is ready to work circles around the rest of us!

Yup, George seems like a stand-up gentleman.....and I surely can't wait for this 712AMB to come east. We've been working out shipping over the past few days and he's been nothing but attentive and helpful.

Re: New Pinzgauer owner in Upstate NY, Catskills open invite
Well folks.....
I'm currently awaiting delivery of my 712AMB from Stauffers in Wisconsin, but we seem to have run into a snafu with the shipper who has been constantly and consistantly off schedule....for close to a month.
I have a feeling George is pulling his hair out over this just as I am.
Can anyone recommend transportation that will operate under a sense of urgency and due expedience to get my truck to me?
Any input.....or offers.....would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently just a tad busy for the 2000 mile round trip to Wisconsin from the Catskills, hence our optioning for shipment.
Believe me, if I could take the time off.......but as it stands, I only get about 6-8 days to myself through the building season, April-October.

Re: New Pinzgauer owner in Upstate NY, Catskills open invite
I had the same issue when I arranged transportfor my Pinz..constant setbacks and delays and dissapointments then I appealed to the transport broker for a honest answer to why my vehicle was not being picked up...she replied that my pinz was located in an area not close to any major trucking lanes and picking up my pinz was a losing proposition for the truckers who want a quick off and on close to a interstate. She suggested cancelling my move and re-listing it to be moved in a closed carrier truck and stated she had sucess with that avenue many times...I asked how much more I would probably pay and was surprised that it only jacked my bill by 100.00....worked like a charm for me...had a mover commit the next day!!! and then 7 days later had my pinz...GOOD LUCK!!!!

I know a guy that travels the country and is very experienced in transporting military vehicles of all types. PM me and I will give you his info.
He is the only person that I trust to get my pinz from place to place if I am not driving it.

I'll just toss in an offer here too. I'm within 10 miles of George's shop. If you needed the truck transported into Madison (about 25 miles) so as to be closer to I-90/I-94, I would be willing to get it there for you. I'm confident George would have no problems with me doing this as I've driven many of his Pinzes, and perhaps he and I would do it together. Just an offer, take it for what it's worth... No charges, just willing to help a fellow owner.
Good luck on your efforts.

Czar,
As of 45 minutes ago (about noon), it's sitting next to an auto transport truck at the local co-op, looking like it's ready to load. My buddy took pix with his phone, and can send them to you if you wish. Nobody was around, so I couldn't ask any questions.
