I remember my first Pinz ride under ownership...it's a proud moment.

For garage clearance, do you have an antenna mount on top? I learned the hard way that mine needed to be removed to fit in my garage. I'm leaving the dented facia as a cute little Pinz scar on my house.......

The heat issue might be just normal Pinz operation. At -8, it won't feel all that hot, and is totally dependant on how fast your are going!

You really want to get that trip meter fixed, it's probably your only reliable way to know how much gas you have....I usually run low (or out) between 375 and 400 km's...that's when the side can becomes a saviour!

From my experience, there are two common failures that can give your odo such symptoms. I assume you won't have to get into fixing that speedo, since you just bought the truck. But if you do, chances are it's an easy fix.

The spare gas can is the only reason I can afford to procrastinate and postpone fixing my fuel gauge!! This jerrycan saved me twice already...

During the summer months, it probably saves me twice per week.....lol.....but I'm getting better now at estimating my consumption based on highway vs. country vs. offroad driving...if that makes any sense!

Yes, that's one. The other was a loose screw that locks down a moveable gear. Spin the input and watch for where the movement stops. If the gears aren't meshing, it might be the loose screw. If the shaft is spinning, then that's described on the other thread. By far, the most troublesome part of the repair is getting the case apart.

Thanks. How hard is it to remove/disconnect the Speedo housing from the dash? I haven't had any time with the truck since I got home because I am away on training.

5 1/4 turn screws releases the dash, then remove the cable "B" nut. two smaller nut hold the gauge to the panel. Done.

Congrats on pulling the trigger on this acquisition! Welcome to the family.

Of course we can't tell from these photos but here's a trick that Andre Swanson passed along and it worked great on my previous 710. If the paint seems especially dull, try some WD-40 on it. It had remarkable results and really shined things up. The rest of the things you'll come across as you dig into it are things that all of us faced and came to the same place for answers...this forum.

I just did this today! The finish was good, but the WD made it look even better. There are definitely some small rust bubbles in a few places, but it is a 37 year old truck. I also found a couple of tears in the top canvas...cannot believe I missed them....but nothing big, and definitely patchable.

Once I found some paint that was pretty close, if i ever saw a slightly rusty spot, I'd just grind it down, prime it and paint it with some of whatever color I'd found that was close to OD green,
