Emergency brake
Emergency brake
My emergency brake has trouble engaging, when I pull the handle fully to the rear, it will slightly disengage and allow the truck to roll forward. Any ideas what part I need to replace or look at?? Length of pull is about 5 inches. Thank you.

Re: Emergency brake
Did you look at the repair manual on the parking brake adjustments?
Or the Operators Manual p160?

Surprisingly easy and cheap to fix.
If you remove the entire handle and associated locking mechanism (can I call it that? its just some round plates with a bend) you will find that you can replace the discs, use a little lube on them, replace the parts and it will work fine. I did this having never even seen one before. There are only a couple moving parts and they are not expensive. The handle and rod must be unattached from the brake to remove. (Easiest is way back by the brake. Just unhook the cable.) Just be sure to put them back just like the diagram in the book or they won't catch. Hardest part is probably getting the little pin out of the handle to remove the handle from the rod. You can dip the hand part of the handle in plasti-dip if you want it to look like new.
