These are incredibly badly designed. These are designed to not leak if the
can is tipped over, so normally closed. To actuate open the spout has to be
under load by putting a force on a collar that is designed to catch on the opening
of a standard gas tank -- small opening.
The first problem is Military truck fuel tank openings are large so there's nothing
to easily catch the collar on. A bigger problem is that the end piece is plastic and flimsy
and can break off -- which it did! Ending up at the bottom of my 710's tank
Since there was a screw at the end of this plastic piece I had to figure out how to fish
that POS out or I'd be constantly worried about it ending up in the Siphoning tube.
Oh well, I figured time to see if there was any signs of Red death or other debris
to clean out. No Red death, but there was some crud at the bottom of he tank and
after an hour with my Harbor Freight Endoscope and a flexible grabber I got that
broken part out.
I'm tossing these spouts!
