4th Gear Syncro?

Post by loyalp »

On my drive home this weekend after hitting the fireroads all day at lower gears, I had a bit of trouble getting into 4th gear on the paved road. It didn't grind or make any noises. Just would not go into 4th gear, like something was stuck in the linkage.

I've checked the linkage and it all looks okay....

Do I need to start worrying about a big expense?

Check your heater hoses. I've had mine come loose and bind up the shifter.

I do not like this word "bomb." It is not a bomb. It is a device that is exploding. Jacques le Blanc

I took another crawl underneath with some better lighting and a camera.

The linkage is pretty wet, and I am suspecting this may just be that I've lost the gear oil from the gearbox...

Mine looks like that too. I've got the replacement seals sitting on my desk waiting for the time to be installed.
