Tech Day in San Diego - September 22

Post by pinzwheeling »

Hello all,
The date has been firmed up; Sept 22, 2007. Basically this will be day a few weeks before Mogfest to get those niggling issues, problems, or just to get ideas for your truck(s). Also, this will be a great time to meet folks in SoCal (or further) that may not make it to Mogfest.

So far it looks like we'll have some tech experts: Jim LaGuardia, Andre Swanson, and possibly Dave Dunn on hand to bask in their celebrity status. We will be providing some barbecue and drinks. I can’t provide beer to customers, but I might have a cooler or so stocked and forget to put it away. ;)

If you’re interested in doing things like fluid changes, hydraulic system servicing/bleeding, etc, please bring your own supplies. Our tech experts will be on hand for assistance and advice, so it’s a great time for you to clean up that sticky slave cylinder, bleed your hydraulic systems or learn how to tune your carbs. I’ll try to put an agenda together if it seems appropriate as the date gets closer.

For those of you who don’t want to drive back up to areas up north the same day, we are planning a campout at Jim’s house (he’s got three relatively flat acres and a nice big fire ring), so bring a tent, and we’ll provide food if we get some interest in staying over. Additionally, if we do get some overnighters, there is some decent wheeling that we’ve discovered about 5 miles away from the shop, so we’ll probably do a mini wheeling trip on Sunday morning for those that stay over.

Lastly, there should be some interesting gear for sale: bumpers, light racks, tank guards and the like, so feel free to bring your own stuff that you are interested in selling, bartering, etc.

Please RSVP (not required, but will help us to determine what we need for food, supplies, etc) to mike@ramonamotors.com

See you in a few weeks!
Michael and Jim

Sounds like a dream come true! Too bad I live in the most remote part of the country-southwest Colorado. My three 710m's could use an expert look-over. Let me know if something similar ever comes to my area!!

Sounds like fun, I'm looking forward to checking out how you insulated your top in person. This should be a good time for all.

If anyone is planning to attend and has not emailed me yet, please shoot me an email and let me know. Also, if you're planning on staying the night (there's no reason that we can't start certain things on Saturday and finish on Sunday) let me know. mike@ramonamotors.com

FYI, Jim LaGuardia will not be staying the night; he has a prior commitment on Sunday.

Hi all,
To date, I have 9 confirmed folks coming. I'm pretty sure that there will be more attending, but I need to get a better idea so I can be sure to stock up on food and drink. Also, I don't have anyone who has requested to stay over, so please let me know if that's your intention.

Please email me and let me know if you'll be attending. If you've already emailed me, no need to send again.

Thanks!

Some samples of things to be done on Saturday:

1. I will be replacing some axle boots, so if anyone else needs to do it, now would be the time to learn. If you order them from your favorite supplier in advance, we could do yours also.

2. I (under Jim L's tutoring), will probably be installing a flex coupler for my exhaust.

3. I have a pressure bleeder, so if anyone needs to change or bleed locker/ 4x4 fluid, bring the brake fluid with you and we can do it on Saturday.

4. If you have any need for some minor carb tuning, now is the time.

Be prepared to get your hands dirty if you want to work on your truck. Jim will provide the expertise, but we will provide our own labor when working on our trucks!

I know its been mentioned before, but ya'll really need to think about puttin' this show on the road. I am sooo jealous of all those that will be able to make it to your work day. Would love to get tinted windows and one of those light bars. Oh well, I hope you all have great weather for it and a huge turn out.

DIRECTIONS TO RAMONA MOTORS

Post by pinzwheeling »

Apparently, not everyone has a built in GPS in their heads, so I thought I should post some directions... duh! (thanks Dave)

Also, the time might be nice. We will be open at 9:00 and will stay open till approximately 9:00 PM. If there is something that carries over till the next day, you will be more than welcome to stay over at Jim Tucker's house and camp out if you'd like, and work on the truck on Sunday.

And because I don't have a chip planted in my head, the government still hasn't found me.

And for those that need another reason to come to this tech day, I'll be there...........now that you've picked yourself up off the floor from laughing your a$$ off. I will be delivering some glass for a couple of awesome Mogs down in San Diego. Seeing these SBUs is quite a sight. One is a 1300L, like mine, only heavily modified, and the other is a beautiful 1450 Doka ( 4 door).

There is a 20% chance of rain on Saturday, but we are on, rain or shine. I have a pretty huge overhang (about 25'x120') that can easily fit 10-15 trucks underneath in case of rain.
