I just got back from a week-long ski trip in Vermont and I was using my Garmin 276c GPS along the way.
It might be a user-induced error (there may be some settings that I haven't found yet!), but I would be travelling along Interstate 90 (New York State Through Way) and the GPS would be advising me to exit for a preferred route....when there was no exit to that state road!!
This, along with some other glitches, happened several times! Being new to the GPS game, my question is...does this happen a lot?
They didn't exactly build that little piece of roadway in the last year or so!
Is there better mapping software out there that I can download routes from, but still be compatible with my device?

I use a Garmin GPS with the Garmin North America Streets mapset on it, once in a while it will show a wrong exit usually in areas where there has been recent construction moving the exit. Other than that it's gotten me all over the place without a problem.
No matter what vehicle I'm in car/motorcycle/pinz/or boat it work rain or shine.

Thanks for the input.
It has happened a few times since I got the unit, but I thought it was because I was in Canada and the mapping might not be as accurate.
On this trip it also happened several times, including messages such as "exit and go westbound" when I obviously needed to stay on the I90, and the I90 was the route it was suggesting I stay on for miles and miles. It just happened that the highway turned slightly.
It made it a little confusing at times in areas that I had not been before. I just figured it would be more accurate on U.S. roads.

Which mapset are you using on it, base map or Canadian MetroGuide?

Take a look at www.delorme.com. I have 2 of their gps units, one PN-20 and a PN-40 which I use in the Pinzgauers. Some of their maps are compatible with other gps makes.
